Fall 2008 Accomplishments

The 99B Red made CUFC proud as they visited the 18th Annual Lake Norman Fall Classic on Nov. 15-16, 2008 and came away with the first place trophy.  Playing in the under 9 division the boys defeated three different local Lake Norman teams and tied one to advance to the finals. 99B Red played against a previously undefeated LNSC Strikers Claymores team that was really big, strong, and fast however our boys and coaches brilliantly came out winners 2-1 in a very difficult battle to win the championship.

Overall the boys outscored the opponent 14 – 7 and the defense and goal keepers really stayed strong all weekend.  Even with the Fall weather challenges and travel time, 99 Red had plenty of support and the boys and coaches made them very proud.  Congratulations boys and coaches on an excellent display of talent.

The 96 Girls Elite ventured across the border to win 4th Annual FCCA Carolina Fall Challenge held in Concord, NC.  Playing in the Under 13 Red Division the girls defeated the North Meck Soccer Club 95 Girls White 9-0, Charlotte United FC Harris Y Green Girls 7-0, North Meck Soccer Club 96 Girls Red 3-0 and Catawba Valley YSA 95 Blast Blue Girls 1-0.

The offense was red hot placing shot after shot in the back of the net with precision accuracy.  The defense played brilliantly smothering their opponents on every possession. Our goalkeeper made critical saves to preserve the shut-outs and guarantee victory. In the Championship Game our girls battled opposition that was fast, taller, and bigger.  The team challenged them head on and came out victorious.

Overall the team went 4-0 scoring 20 goals for and 0 against.  This is the second consecutive tournament win for our girls.   This also makes the second tournament in a row holding their opponents scoreless.  Congratulations girls and coaches on an excellent weekend of soccer.

Despite injuries and being down a player, the CUFC 98 Blue Girls battled their way into the Championship game of the James Island Cup and played their most impressive game of the season to date.  After playing nearly 40 minutes of scoreless and mistake-free soccer, the girls were finally beaten on 2nd half goal by the solid James Island team. The final score was 0-3 because of a couple of late goals, but not indicative of the game that was played on the field. Our girls were warriors and battled through fatigue and a very tough schedule to secure two wins during the tournament. They are to be commended for their heart and effort during this difficult, but enjoyable weekend!
