7 SCUFC Players Compete on Team to Win Regional Championship

Seven SCUFC players helped compel the South Carolina United Battery 14 Pre-Academy team to the first ever Southeast Pre-Academy League Regional Championship.  The SCU Battery team is comprised of top 1997-born (and younger) players from across South Carolina.  This team competes in the Southeast Pre-Academy League (SEPAL) against some of the largest clubs in Florida, Georgia, Virginia , North Carolina and South Carolina, during the fall and spring season.  In the inaugural season, SCU Battery finished third out of thirteen teams in the regular season with a 9-2-2 record.  This qualified them to compete in the SEPAL Championship over Memorial Day weekend in Raleigh, NC.  The team prevailed with three wins over CASL, Miami’s Kendall Soccer and Charlotte Soccer Academy’s Pre-Academy teams to qualify as one of eight teams to play for the national title in July at the National Premier League Champions Cup held in Chicago Illinois. The seven other teams will be champions from the Midwest , Northern California , Southern California , Texas, Northeast , Pacific Northwest and Northern Illinois Premier Leagues.

The 7 SCUFC players that played in the championship hail from 2 teams:  SCUFC 96 Boys Elite - Cam Bohannon, Reid Hunter, Cam Parker and Rett Stevens; SCUFC 97 Boys Elite - Smith Dawsey, Cole Gaston, and Marcelo Malpartida.
